Introductions first. I'll start with my "cats by way of relationship", aka, HIS cats.
1. Mama Cat.
Our resident matriarch. This is our queen cat, and she's definitely the sweetest. She was originally part of a set, "Kit Kat", but when Kit passed away and Kat had kittens, she became Mama Cat. She's one of those that wants to be left alone by other furry, four-footed figures but is a big fan of us humans. If the other cats get too close, she lets them know with a swift double slap. And since she is declawed, the noise of the pop she gives them is more effective than the pain. I'm also pretty convinced she never closes her eyes. She'll lay in one spot, resting, and have one eye cracked open to keep a lookout for intruders and creepers. When she wants loving, she head-butts whatever part of you is closest. Overall, super sweet and spunky.

2. Buddy
This is our big boy. Buddy was the runt of his litter, but weighs in between 15-18 lbs. Beautiful, long fur which loves to pick up cat litter and anything else that will stick in it. Buddy is also a head-butter for affection, though last night he was head-butting my boyfriend's feet... Not sure how well that one worked out. He is a LOT of cat. Our resident dog hater, you can usually find him by following the sound of growling and hissing. Anytime he can see a dog, he's fussing about it. Needless to say, Buddy's fussing is a regular accompaniment to our daily lives. If he's not in our laps, he's hiding behind the couch. Big catnip fan...

3. Cleo
This cat... She is a cutie, but ANNOYING! She hates closed doors. So, no matter what time of day or night, if a door is closed... She's pawing at it. And not gently. Loudly, enthusiastically pawing at it. And caterwauling. I didn't know what that word truly meant until I met Cleo. All the time, she does it. For twenty minutes, thirty... Until you get her with the spray bottle, she's yowling. Not a huge attention needer, she's the kind to jump into your lap for a two-second head rub, then she's gone. Though I have discovered that if I'm laying down reading, she likes to lay on my chest between my chin and the book, effectively making it impossible to read or to ignore her. I'll have to post her picture later, can't seem to get into that file... Weird.
And now, my boys!
4. Elliott
This is my Alpha cat. I rescued him and his "brother" the day before they were going to be euthanized at the shelter. They're my babies. Elliott is the escape artist, loves to run outside and make you chase him as long as possible before being herded back indoors. He runs around with his tail parallel over top his body, really funny. It was hilarious when he was a kitten. He is Mr. Loving, gets into my lap, tucks his head under my chin and sleeps there. He's also a nibbler, he has an odd tendency to bite me on the face while purring, as if to show his approval for the love he's getting. He also has a disturbing tendency to lick my face for me, and won't stop sometimes until I put him down. Goofy cat. Loves wrestling with the dog, and will taunt him by playing peek-a-cat from underneath the couch.

5. Pancake
Elliott's brother, though they're not littermates. These two are inseparable... literally. If they are ever stuck in separate rooms, believe me-- Pancake lets me know. He follows me around the house meowing at me until I put them back together. He does the same thing if he can see the bottom of the food bowls. Not if they're empty, mind you... Just if he can see the bottom. Room to room, he trails me, meowing the whole way until I comply with his demands. He's my limp noodle, when I pick him up he just flops. On my shoulder, in my arms, he just lays there. Also the resident bully. Picks on Mama Cat and Cleo all the time, much to our frustration. He gets the water bottle emptied on him about once a week.

Inseparable, see...

And our newest member...
6. Bob
Recently found on our front porch, Bob was going to be a yard cat. Then it got really cold and he tugged at my boyfriend's heartstrings. Not wanting the cat to become a "Bob-sicle", he was moved into the garage with a space heater. And after getting a clean bill of health from the vet and being told he is already fixed, he moved into the house. Most relaxed cat ever. Will stay in one spot and sleep for HOURS, and moves only to eat or use the facilities. Very sweet, not a fan of the dogs...

And for reference, here's Jersey...

And Maggie...

Thus ends the introductions. All of their stories and antics to follow...
